Check for misspellings, wrong names, or anything that feels off about an email.  Emails that start with Sir/Madam(Mam) are almost always scams. In the following example, you can clearly see the invoice is not made out to a specific recipient. This was sent through QuickBooks online to mask the sender’s email address. Please note: legitimate anti-virus companies will have you pay them directly through their website. They will not use QuickBooks to collect payments. NEVER click on links from emails, even if they come from a business or person you know and trust. Scammers are getting much better at mimicking real businesses. Instead, look-up the company online and log-in to check your account.
