This is another tough one to spot if you don’t know what to look for. If you’ve ever run used Geek Squad for computer repairs, this email may look legit. Always look at the sender’s email address. If it doesn’t come from the actual business (i.e. xxxx@geeksquad.com), it’s NOT REAL! Never click on links or attachments from emails, even if they come from a business or person you know and trust. Scammers are getting much better at mimicking real businesses. Instead, look-up the company online, visit the official website, and log-in to check your account. DO NOT call the phone number listed on the email either. This is likely not real and they may have people trained to answer and pretend to be the business when you call. This is an effective way for them to scam people out of money and/or personal information. You can look up the official website online for the company’s real phone number.
