If your computer is running slow or having repeated issues with storage, you might want to consider replacing it. An old outdated system is more likely to break, leading to permanent loss of data. However, deciding to replace your computer is only half of the battle. You’ll also need to decide between a Mac and a Windows computer.
The best system depends on your individual needs and requirements. This is why the answer of which system varies widely from one person to the next.
Below, we explain the main differences between Macs and PCs. These differences should be carefully considered before making a decision.
Mac vs PC
Macs run on the Mac OS X operating system and PCs run on Windows. Each user will have their own preference as to which system is easier to use. Both Macs and PCs perform the same tasks but in a different way. For example, when using Windows on a PC, in order to close a program you simply click the red X at the corner of the program window. On Macs, clicking the red X closes the window, but not the program. In order to close the program on a Mac you need to click the program name in the status window and then click Quit. Many people find this confusing and inconvenient.
Another major difference between Macs and PCs relates to hardware. Macs are only built by Apple. PCs are built by a number of different companies. This is reflected in the price, as Macs are generally quite a bit more expensive than PCs.
Although Macs are widely known to be the better choice for designers, this isn’t always true. PCs can do just as good of a job as a Mac. The only difference is that Mac applications for designers are built specifically for Macs, meaning they are not available on PCs.
Many people simply prefer Macs because of the brand. Unfortunately, many of these people don’t know how to use a Mac to its full capability. Instead they end up spending a lot of money on a system that performs the same as a PC.
